History
From 1755 up to now: the basic marks, the well-known teachers and graduates, university today. Moscow University has a rich academic history. Yet the major commitment remains the same as it has been in centuries: to provide outstanding teaching, scholarship and research. But what makes our University so lively is this intellectual spirit combined with inexhaustible curiosity.

Academic areas at Lomonosov Moscow State University are wide-ranging, with a total of 380 departments, 39 faculties, 15 research institutes, four museums and six branch campuses in Russia and abroad.

Our courses are challenging and rigorous, guided and inspired by our highly qualified academic staff.Since the Soviet era the famous scientist were working in the MSU to develop their research and share their knowledge with their students. This tradition is continuing, and students are feeling involved into the research starting yet from their undergraduate degree programs.There are eleven scientists, writers and politicians whose lives were in some way connected with Moscow State University: Nikolai Semenov (Nobel Laureate in Chemistry 1956).
